Counselling can help us to know ourselves better, to find out what we really want and to find compassion and clarity.  Clients I work with have said that they have found value in having someone to listen to them, to challenge them and to find solutions with.

I offer counselling sessions that take place on the same day and the same time each week. I believe that the process of being listened to in a non-judgemental way can help you to explore parts of your self that you have not looked at before. I work with a diverse range of clients and needs and have a special interest in working with the LGBT community.

I can help you to make sense of depression, anxiety and low-self esteem and I will work with you in a compassionate and gentle way to explore your identity, sexuality and relationship problems at your own pace.  Please do email or call with any questions or queries you may have.

About counselling

What is counselling?

Counselling is a confidential relationship in which you can talk about the problems you are experiencing.  Counselling is an opportunity for me to listen to your issues and concerns and to help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes, helping you to find solutions to your problems.

Counselling sessions take place on the same day and the same time each week.  This requires a commitment from you to attend weekly sessions over a period of time.

Initial Consultation

We will first have a 30-minute consultation on the telephone.  This will gives us an opportunity to talk about how you are feeling and to explore how counselling might help you. If you decide to start counselling we will arrange our first session together.

First session

I have experienced counselling as a student, and am aware of the nervousness that you may feel at your first counselling session.  I‘m also aware of the benefits of counselling from a client perspective.  By the end of our first session, I hope that you will see this is your first step to overcoming the problems you are dealing with.

Ongoing sessions

Our counselling sessions are intended to be supportive and can sometimes be challenging and you may feel that talking about your emotions and your life is difficult.  The therapeautic relationship is there to help you and we can explore these difficulties together.

I hope to offer you the chance to share aspects of yourself that you have not been able to share with anyone else.

How we will work together

I work as a Humanistic Integrative Counsellor, which means that I am trained in a number of therapeutic approaches and these are Person Centred,Transactional Analysis and Gestalt theory.

I use my listening and empathic skills to help you to explore and come to terms with negative feelings and to change and develop in your own way.

I offer counselling to adults on a one-to-one basis. I can work with you for a set number of sessions agreed between us or we can agree an open ended longer-term counselling relationship based on your individual needs.
